2019 Albanian Earthquake

November 26, 2019, marked the day of one of Albania's most tragic earthquakes.

Measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, the early-morning earthquake caught the country

unaware. Fifty lives were lost, while over 3,000 were injured, many gravely. Damage to

infrastructure was also significant, with whole cities and towns seeing buildings and

structures damaged.

The chaos made it difficult for several families to find shelter, food, and other basic

needs for weeks.

Our team of dedicated teens from the Balkan American Community Centre together

raised $4,000 US Dollars. We achieved this in a coordinated effort that included bake

sales, outreach campaigns, and conducting donation drives in myriad ways. Our

endeavor also led us to collect an entire truckload of clothing and blankets that we

promptly distributed to families that needed them the most.
